These earrings were made by Ojibwe artist Tashina Lee Emery and feature natural birch bark encased in acrylic.
These earrings are made from bark that has been harvested in a respectful manner straight from the artist's backyard. Sustaining in unforgiving climates, the birch tree is a natural pioneer in the Great Lakes Region. The bark is raw and sealed in a sleek acrylic coating that encases it and acts like sap preserving the bark. One side of the earrings showcase the silvery white outer tree bark, while the other side features the inner side of the bark, which is a deep peach color. Both the front and the back tell different stories of the tree's personal identity, like a fingerprint. Preserving a natural history, the layers of the tree speak a beautiful and distinctive truth. Sterling silver hooks. This item ships from the US.
