DOUBLE HATCHET PENDANT IN BLACK RHODIUM
This elegant necklace was designed by Chickasaw metalsmith Kristen Dorsey and features a shield design in sterling silver and black rhodium plated.
Two crossed hatchets symbolize the weapon of choice for Chickasaw women of the 1730s who effectively defended their families and homes from European invaders. This pendant was created using the ancient chasing and repoussé technique in order to celebrate the strength and intelligence of our Chickasaw ancestors. The shield shape of the pendant brings confidence while reminding you to meet every challenge fearlessly and boldly. Today we wield knowledge instead of hatchets, however, we are no less fierce than our grandmothers, and will pass on this gift of strength to our granddaughters. This item ships from the US.
Kristen Dorsey is a Chickasaw metalsmith based out of California. Her work is inspired by the ancient power of traditional Chickasaw symbology and stories.
