Over a decade ago, Dustin Martin was one of the first designers to support the launch of the Beyond Buckskin Boutique - a space that focused solely on promoting and selling Native-made fashion. Nothing like it had existed before. In fact, his words found their way into BBB's initial mission statements to reclaim Native America's right to determine what is 'Native,' 'authentic,' and 'traditional' as it pertains to fashion.

Since then, Dustin's designs have been sell-out favorites on the Boutique site. The graphics are not only eye-catching, but the meanings behind them are thoughtfully developed and effectively combine fashion with pop culture and intellect.

He explained the power of streetwear: “I could write anthropological articles my whole life, but I would still be heard and read by only a small community of academics. Instead, the same ideas can be articulated in a way that is not necessarily scholarly - I see Native art and clothing as a perfect medium for the messages I want to convey to a larger audience.”
